I’ve been eating açai bowls for a year now but what the hell is it and why is it so good for me?
Açai is a berry native to South American rainforests. Up until a decade or so ago, it was confined to the Amazon River delta and prized for its healing, immune-stimulating, and energy-boosting properties. It came to the United States as a miracle cure for obesity and other diseases, but now it packs a powerful punch by providing natural energy along with anti-aging effects, immune system protection, and much more. Thanks to its tasty flavor, it has flooded American society with products ranging from açai jelly beans to açai bowls.
Zach Bucolo, founder of Ital Bowls, first discovered this purple gold when he moved to Hawaii after high school to surf the North Shore. Zach noticed that many people, especially surfers, were eating açai regularly and he soon realized why when he tried it — it gave him a boost of energy without the crash so he felt strong and able to surf for at least 3 or 4 hours after. He later moved back to Florida and brought this special piece of Hawaii with him by starting the first Açai Food Truck on the Treasure Coast specializing in delicious açai bowls, fresh smoothies, and bulletproof coffee. What you need:
- 1 packet of Tambor Açai
- 1 frozen banana
- 1/2 cup of fresh strawberries
- 1/2 cup of fresh blueberries
- 1/2 cup of fresh mango
- 1/2 of a fresh banana
- 1 kiwi
- 2 oz of filtered water
- 1/2 cup of organic chia and flax seed granola
- 1/4 cup of almond butter
- Honey to drizzle on top
What you need to do:
First, add 1 packet of 100% organic açai from Tambor Açai, 1/2 cup of fresh strawberries, a frozen banana, and 2 oz of filtered water to the blender. Blend it for 30-45 seconds to make a smooth and consistent texture. Put the blend in a bowl and top it off with half a cup of organic chia and flax seed granola, half of a fresh (and sliced) banana, half a cup of blueberries, freshly sliced kiwi, and some diced mango. Spread some creamy almond butter on the sides and a drizzle of honey for extra delicious taste & enjoy!
